Can this palletizer be used in freezer conditions?+

No, neither this or any other palletizer can be used in freezer conditions. They use pneumatics, which are not apt to be used in cold environments (anything under 10 degrees Celsius), and have other parts that have not been tested for freezer conditions. A deep-freeze palletizer is in development.

Can we mount a gear motor with Movimot on the Sheetrunner SR2+

Vertical movement of SR2 is done by a Movimot Flexible + DRN AC drive.

Due to mechanical limits MM adv cannot be fitted.

Do you need a belt slack detection or belt brake detection? And what is the maximum load on the timing belt?+

The Prorunner 12 is designed in accordance with Directive 2006/42/EC and Directive 2014/30/EU. With a focus on person safety. The belt is oversized with a safety factor greater than 4, minimizing the risk of belt failure.

In the unlikely event of a belt failure, no person should be present within the safety zone.

If the belt fails, the motor will continue to rotate and initiate braking. At that point, the automatic locking device will engage.

For the PR12, the use of the automatic locking device is not mandatory, as each carrier is equipped with two belts. The likelihood of both belts failing simultaneously is extremely low.

Belt is steel enforced and 50mm wide, which would give that the max. toothed belt load (safety factor >4) is 7,680N and breaking load 26,870N per belt. The PR12 is equipped with two belts so we can double this number.

Maximum weight of HD carrier + conveyor + product is 360kg. With an acceleration of 2m/s^2 and gravity 10m/s^2 that gives a maximum force of 4,320N.

Max. toothed belt load of the PR12 is therefore a total of 15,360N (whereby the safety factor is already >4) of which we will go up to 4,320N. (approx. 30% of the indicated max. toothed belt load and approx. 8% of the breaking load).

Hereby: If one of the PR12 belts breaks, the other can catch it. The carrier will then not fall down immediately.

Do you need a belt slack detection or belt brake detection? And what is the maximum load on the timing belt?+

The Prorunner 2 is designed in accordance with Directive 2006/42/EC and Directive 2014/30/EU. With a focus on person safety. The belt is oversized with a safety factor greater than 4, minimizing the risk of belt failure.

In the unlikely event of a belt failure, no person should be present within the safety zone.

If the belt fails, the motor will continue to rotate and initiate braking. At that point, the (automatic) locking device will engage.

The use of the (automatic) locking device is mandatory for the PR2.

Belt is steel enforced and 32mm wide, that would give that the max. timing belt load (safety factor >4) is at 4,915N and breaking load at 17,196N.

Maximum allowed mass of conveyor + product is 150kg. The total mass lifted by the belt (so incl. carriage, carrier tubes, reinforcement, etc.) is then approx. 190kg. With an acceleration of 2m/s^2 and gravity 10m/s^2 that gives a maximum force of 2,280N.

Max. timing belt load of the PR2 is therefore a total of 4,915N (where the safety factor is already >4) of which we will go up to 2,280N. (approx. 46% of the indicated max. timing belt load and approx. 29% of the breaking load).

What is the thickness of the powder coating layer on the machines?+

The thickness of the powder coating must be at least between 60µm and 90µm per layer. With a primer and a topcoat, the thickness is at least 120-180µm.

When having an EPD coating, an extra 18-25µm is added.

Can a product stopper be used on a roller conveyor for the Prmk1 and PR2?+

Yes, this is a standard option which can be used when the infeed side of the products is the same side as the outfeed side of the products.

What is the difference in terms of energy usage between the Qimarox palletizer and competitive systems for example by using a robot to palletizer?+

As we have many different situations it’s hard to compare directly but in general energy consumption is lower as in our machines we only use energy to move the product and there is no large steel parts that needs to get into motion.

What is the delivery time for a Prorunner mk1?+

The lead time for Prorunner Mk1 is generally between 6 to 16 weeks*, with custom requirements taking a longer time.

*(this time is an approximation and can be subject to change, when placing an order you will get a definitive delivery time)

Can the machines be placed in a environment with temperatures above the 40 degrees celcius?+

The machines are not suitable for temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Its components have not been rated or classified for use in such high-temperature environments. Operating the machine beyond this limit may lead to performance issues, accelerated wear, or component failure. For applications requiring higher temperature resistance, get in touch with Qimarox.

Can the machines be placed in a hygienic environment?+

The machines are not available in a hygienic version. It has not been designed or constructed to meet the specific requirements necessary for hygienic applications. As alternative we can supply a stainless steel version and for the Prorunner mk5 a Wash Down version is available.

Can the machines be places in a moisture environment?+

The machines can be configured in multiple variants for use in moisture environments or when the machines are cleaned with water. To ensure durability and performance, materials and protective coatings resistant to corrosion are essential. Proper selection of components, such as EPD coating, stainless steel or the Wash Down variant, can prevent material degradation.

Can the machines be places in a salt water environment?+

The machines can be configured in multiple variants for use in environments involving saltwater exposure. To ensure durability and performance, materials and protective coatings resistant to corrosion are essential. Proper selection of components, such as stainless steel or EPD coating, can prevent material degradation. For applications requiring salt water resistance, get in touch with Qimarox.

Can the machines be placed in a battery industry (no zinc parts) environment?+

The machines can be supplied without the inclusion of zinc material. If desired, alternative materials or coatings can be used based on specific requirements. For applications requiring no zinc parts, get in touch with Qimarox.

Can the machines be used in a cleanroom (no dust) environment?+

The machines are not designed for cleanroom use.

Can the machines be used in a dusty or dirty environment?+

The machines can be used in dusty environments. It is crucial to adhere to the prescribed maintenance schedule to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Dust accumulation can impair functionality, leading to increased wear and potential failure. Regular maintenance helps prevent these issues, safeguarding operational efficiency and reducing downtime. Compliance with the maintenance plan is essential for sustained reliability and safety. Please note that the machine can not be used in ATEX environments.

Can the machines be placed in an earthquake region?+

The machines has not been tested or calculated for seismic regions. Structural integrity under seismic loads is unverified. Design modifications or anchoring may be necessary for compliance and safety. Until then, operate with caution in high-seismic-risk areas.

Can Qimarox palletizers handle ‘folded closed cartons’, so cartons without glue or tape?+

No, we can only handle cartons with relatively flat bottom / top within current design.

What is the expected life span on the lifting belts of the PRmk9?+

The belt wear is reliant on a large number of factors like environment, product weight, speed of the machine, running ours etc. This is why the user manual states to check the belt every week on wear, damage, noise and connections (to the carrier) and act accordingly.

What is EPD (KTL) coating?+

EPD coating is a pretreatment before powder coating, which makes the coating more resistant to e.g. moisture environments.

Can the machine be supplied with EPD (KTL) coating?+
Do we have a lift specially developed for the ‘Clean Room Environment’?+

No, we do not have a lift specially made for ‘Clean room enviroment’. We do have the mk5 WD, which is made of stainless steel and can be power washed. It is for the integrator to decide if this complies.

Is the distance between the carriers always the same?+

No, there can be differences due to total chain length, column height, product height and number of carriers needed for the capacity. This is to maximize utilization of the chain wheel used to tension the chain.

Can the mk10 be build higher than 24.950mm?+

Yes, technically this is possible. This needs to be confirmed for each request by engineering. Pallet weight and capacity is important to know. Total weight must not exceed 6500 kg (incl. product weight). When the weight is higher, some column sections might be reinforced.

Is it needed to anchor the lift for stability?+

The machine needs to be anchored to the floor, see documentation. Above 4 meters height the machine also needs to be anchored every 4 meters to a solid structure for sideways stabilization.

What brake voltage should be used for the gear motors?+

This depends on the motor and the customer’s preference. We use brake voltage 400V AC as standard.

Why are there sometimes (like PVC or PF-00) sleeves on the conveyor rollers?+

This is to increase the friction between the rollers and the product. This allows, for example, plastic crates (which slide easily) to be transported more effectively. It can also reduce the noise level when ‘harder’ products are transported.

Does this vertical conveyor use pneumatics?+

Yes, the standard lifts require pneumatics for the safety drop pins. However, the drop pins of the mk10(-PS) are also available as electric versions, making the mk10(-PS) pneumatic-free.

Does this vertical conveyors use pneumatics?+

No, a standard mk5 does not use pneumatics. However, some add-on conveyors such as tilting conveyors or bypass stoppers require pneumatics.

Does this vertical conveyor uses pneumatics?+

No, this machine does not use pneumatics.

Can an mk10 be configured with multiple infeeds and outfeeds on multiple sides?+

Yes, however, consideration must be given to the stiffness of the lift. Often, cross-braces need to be omitted, creating large openings. These can be replaced by ‘special’ cross-braces, with separate holes drilled in the columns.

Can the carrier be fixed at any input and output level (to prevent movement due to chain stretch)?+

No, this option is not available on the lifts. There is a locking pin on the carrier, but it has a fixed pitch (of 125 mm), so there is no flexibility in stopping positions.

The purpose of the locking pins is to secure the carrier for safety reasons (for example, when a safety door is opened or someone passes through a light curtain). The locking pins are not intended for use during the loading or unloading of pallets.

Are two mk10 vertical conveyors allowed to be placed next to each other?+

Yes, but: – There must be a minimum of 500 mm space behind the gear motors. – There must be enough space between the columns to remove the covers and access the gear motors (these are generally located in the upper and lower columns).

Can a machine be later converted to be used for a heavier product?+

Yes, this is possible. However, the lift needs to be recalculated to see if the gear motor still meets the requirements. It might be needed to equip the machine with a new gear motor. Always consult Qimarox for changes.

Can the integrator create their own conveyor on the carrier?+

Yes, it is possible. The conveyor must fall within the specifications of the vertical conveyor (see specifications).

How is an mk5 delivered in terms of electrical components?+

The standard is with an infeed and outfeed sensor on the column and a rotation detection on the lower sprocket for a basic lift. The conveyors all have two standard photocells with reflectors to detect the products.

Can gear motors from a supplier other than SEW be used to control the shuttle conveyors?+

No, we supply standard modules with SEW gear motors. These modules are engineered based on the sizes of these gear motors (shafts, attachment, clearance), and deviating from this can cause a lot of customization.

Can a column be hung through a floor?+

In certain situations, this is possible (Always in consultation with and with approval of Qimarox). There are special brackets with which the lift can hang through a floor. We can supply the brackets, but the integrator needs to construct the attachment for fixating the machine to the floor.

Can the x-direction of the products be larger than indicated in the specifications?+

No, the x-size is limited to the maximum values provided in the lift specifications. Because it is a continuous lift, the forks on the opposite side come along in the opposite direction. If a product is too wide, a collision will occur.

Is it possible to implement an mk5 as a start-stop elevator?+

This is possible, but the machine is not designed for this purpose. The mk5 is essentially a continuous vertical conveyor meant to start empty and then continue running continuously. When the machine is used for start-stop sequence, a heavier gear motor will needed.

Can two products be entered into the lift simultaneously?+

It is possible. When the products are placed side by side, it is important that they are properly centered and guided during insertion. When the products are placed one behind the other, it must be taken into account that a gap may occur between the products if there is a difference in speed between the feeding and infeed conveyor. Possible solution is to use a 2-zone conveyor.

In all cases, it is important that the center of mass of the total combination of products rests approximately in the middle of the conveyor.

What happens if a chain breaks or the space underneath the carrier is blocked?+

We installed chain slack detection sensors at every corner of the carrier. These sensors can detect if there is a malfunction with (one of) the chains. When the carrier can’t move down, slack is created in the chains, which stops the machine. At stopping of the machine the drop-down safety will be activated to prevent the carrier from falling.

Is a frequency inverter needed to operate the PRmk10? And how many frequency inverters do you need?+

Yes, with all our vertical conveyors it is necessary to use a frequency inverter. In most situations, the inverter needs to have a “hoist” function for safe operating. Please contact our support if there are any further questions.

Both gear motors of a MK10 can always be controlled with a single frequency inverter.

Would it be posible to supply our own gear motors for the Prorunner mk10?+

No, that’s not possible. The drive section is designed to work with the SEW gear motors. This way, we can make the mk10 have a relatively small footprint for its lifting capacity.

Can we feed or discharge on all sides of the machine?+

Yes, it is possible in most cases. However, it is dependent on the configuration. Please contact our sales representative for further information.

On the Prorunner mk10 it is also possible to mount a rotating roller conveyor (turn-table).

What standard built-in encoders can be supplied?+

The folowing encoders are available: EI71 (SEW), EI72 (SEW), EI76 (SEW), EI7C (SEW). Other encoders can be requested and evaluated.

Is this machine also available in stainless steel?+

No, these machines are not available in stainless steel. However, we can supply stainless steel feet and colored parts are available with KTL coating for extra corrosion protection.

Would it be possible to load the Prorunner mk10 by forklift?+

All our vertical conveyors need to be integrated into an automated system. Loading manually or with forklift is not allowed. There is also the option to have AGVs or AMRs driving themselves onto the lift, using a platform instead of a conveyor on the carrier.

The maximum (top) in/outfeed level is 10.8m when using an Qimarox conveyor.

Does the PR mk9 have chains?+

No, this model pallet lift works with two flat belts, which result in low noise operations and less maintenance than conventional chains.

What is the max. load for the PR mk9?+

The Prmk9 can handle a maximum load of 1,500 kg, including both the conveyor and the product.

Is the PR mk9 equipped with a anti-drop down protection system ?+

The mk9 is delivered with a drop-down safety mechanism, which is not removable. This system is operated by compressed air and can not be made electrical at this moment. If an electrical drop-down system is required please use our Prorunner mk10.

Can the Prorunner mk9 be loaded by forklift?+

No, The Prorunner mk9 is designed to work with an automated conveyor system and may not be loaded manually or with a forklift.

What is the required clearance for maintenance of the Prorunner mk9?+

We recommend at least 500mm clearance at the back side and 200mm at the left and right side.

Can any type of conveyor be used on the carrier?+

Qimarox can supply a roller conveyor or a chain conveyor. There is also a possibility of mounting an OEM conveyor. Please contact our sales representative for further info.

Would it be possible to supply our own I/O module for this Product?+

We can supply a gearmotor with encoder. However, we do not recommend using the encoder for positioning. The Prorunner mk9 uses a winding pulley; therefore, the covered vertical distance varies with every rotation.

Can I use other belt types if original belts are worn?+

It is strongly advised to only use belts supplied by Qimarox to ensure the machine can be operated safely. Qimarox is not responsible from any issues that arise from using non original parts.

Vertical movement of SR2 is done by Movimot Flexible + DRN AC drive.

Due to mechanical limits MM adv cannot be fitted.

Can we mount a gear motor with MoviMot on the Lowrunner 1?+

Some components of LR1 can be equipped with MoviMot advanced, but not all of them. Please consult with a sales representative.

Can we mount a gear motor with MoviMot on the Highrunners?+

The high level infeed palletizers (HRx) are available with MoviMot Advanced + DRN AC drives.

Please consult with a sales representative for other Movimots.

How does the sensors work to be able to use only two sensors for additional stop positions?+

The sensors in the MK1 detect the detection strip in the carrier, it is necessary for both sensors to be activated for the carrier to stop. In the additional positions, where the carrier can come from above and below, this means that when the carrier comes from below, the lower sensor acts as the slow down, and the higher sensor as the stop, and when the carrier comes from above, the higher sensor acts as the slow down, and the lower sensor as the stop.

What is the maximum load on the timing belt?+

What is the maximum column height of the prorunner mk5 wash down?+

The maximum column height of the Prorunner mk5 Wash Down is 7850mm. Till a column height of 5900mm the machine will be delivered fully assembled. When the column is higher than 5900mm the machine will be delivered in pre-assembled modules and assembly on site is required.

Is the turning device (Twistrunner) also sold as a stand-alone unit?+

Currently a Twistrunner is not sold as a stand-alone unit. Please check availability with your sales representative.

What is the language of the HMI?+

There standard language is English but there are multiple languages available, such as Spanish. Any other language can be brought in if needed. Language can easily be switched at wish on the panel.

Can a Qimarox palletizer handle incomplete pallet loads? Can incomplete layers be created and placed onto a pallet?+

Yes, every Qimarox palletizer can handle ‘incomplete’ layers or pallet loads. If it receives a signal (manual or automated) that the last SKU of a batch has entered, the machine can empty itself out fully automated.

Is the Twistrunner driven by a gear motor?+

A Twistrunner is driven by one or two gear motors (depending on type of Twistrunner) operated by a frequency controller. The rollers of the Twistrunner are belt driven. For every belt driven roller conveyor we always have a spare belt installed to make sure down time is minimized as much as possible if a belt would need replacement.

Is it possible to have both infeed/s and the outfeed/s in only one side of the lift?+

Yes, this is possible. There are two options; the first is with front infeed (v-belt conveyors), in this situation there will be an of sett of 650mm between the infeed and discharge conveyor. The second option is from the side with roller conveyors, in this situation the product needs to pass the down going part of the vertical conveyor and therefore the overall throughput is lower.

Would it be possible to supply our own I/O module for this Product?+

To know if this is possible we need to have more information on the I/O module to use so we can check if it can be mounted on the same location as our standard unit or if we need to make changes to the design. In every situation additional cost can apply and it may also effect delivery time. Preferred is to stick with the standaard options supplied by Qimarox.

Leaving the unit out will also generate additional cost as it would require a change request. Ask your sales representatives for the possibilities.

What brake voltage should be used for the motors?+

This depends on the motor and the customer’s preference. We use brake voltage 400V AC as standard.

Why are there sometimes (e.g. PVC or PF-00) sleeves on the conveyor rollers?+

This is to increase the friction between the rollers and the product. This allows, for example, plastic crates (which slide easily) to be transported more effectively.

Does this lift have pneumatics?+

Yes, the standard lifts require pneumatics for the safety drop pins. However, the drop pins of the mk10 and mk10-PS are also available as electric versions, making the mk10 and mk10-PS pneumatic-free.

Does this lift have pneumatics?+

All our vertical conveyors are fully electrical. However, some add-ons such as tilting conveyors or stoppers (e.g. in a bypass conveyor) require pneumatics.

Does this lift have pneumatics?+

No, this lift does not contain pneumatics.

Can the machines be placed in an ATEX environment?+

The machines are not suitable for ATEX environments. It has not been designed or certified for use in explosive atmospheres as defined by ATEX standards.

Does anything have to be done to make the vertical conveyor CE worthy?+

The Prorunner vertical conveyors always carry the CE certificate from Qimarox. When the system integrator incorporates the lift into a larger system, they must issue a CE certificate for the entire system to ensure overall compliance.

Can a gear motor of an mk1 be swapped from side to side?+

No, this is not always possible. There is a vent nipple on top of the gear box, which will leak if the motor is rotated 180° when mounted on the other side. Consult Qimarox if you wish to change the position of the gear motor

Can the conveyor be mounted only on the clamp brackets (without the nut plates)?+

Yes, this is possible. The nut plates provide extra stability, preventing twisting during loading and unloading of products. If the conveyor (OEM) is rigid enough, this should not be a problem.

Can the Prorunner MK1 also be equipped with a SEW Movigear?+

This is currently not available as an option, MOVIMOT is available and often sufficient. If MOVIGEAR is desired, it may be possible to offer that (in consultation with engineering).

How do the drop-down safety pins work on the Prorunner mk10?+

Depending on the actuator type, the safety-pins are pneumatic or electrically retracted. During normal operation, pressurized air or power is provided. If power or pressurized air is shut off, the pins will be activated.

Why does Qimarox not apply counterbalance-weights to its vertical product and pallet elevators?+

By not using a counter weight it’s possible to have more flexibility for your lay-out as pallets can go in and out in each direction. Anther factor is cost, on engineering, material and maintenance. For each different application the weight would be different and by adding moving parts maintenance becomes more expensive. Also the counter weight would need safety pins for person safety when entering the safety zone.

All these additional costs will not compensate the slightly higher cost of a stronger gear motor.

What is the difference between an incremental encoder and an absolute encoder? Which is used by Qimarox?+

An absolute encoder gives an absolute position. An incremental encoder measures the changes in position. With each movement, counting the number of steps. Qimarox uses incremental encoders from SEW because of their high quality and simplicity.

Do all the rollers of the RDC2 roller conveyor have the same diameter?+

Yes the diameter of the rollers is 40mm, although the drive roller has a diameter of 50mm.

What is the maximum capacity with a Prorunner mk5 sorter?+

The maximum capacity is subject to various things such as the product dimensions and column height. In ideal situations, the capacity can go up to 1800 per hour.

Can the Prorunner mk5 be used as a buffering system?+

Yes, but in order to maximize buffering capacity, the lift has to operate in step by step mode (Start-Stop). The capacity is very dependent on the configuration. Please contact our sales representative for more information.

Is it possible to have retractable conveyors for sorting on the PRmk5-WD?+

No, retractable conveyors have an IP rating of 54, which is not enough to be washed down.

What is the largest product that can be transported by the Prorunner mk5?+

The maximum product size of the Prorunner mk5 is 600×610 mm. The maximum product height depends on the height of the machine and the requested capacity. We also offer the Prorunner mk5 XL, which can transport 900×610 mm.

What determines the capacity of the mk5?+

There are multiple factors that determine the capacity of a mk5 vertical conveyor.

Our aim is to make integration of the equipment as easy as possible to any integrator.

Does the Prmk1 has to be controlled by VFD (Variable-frequency drive)?+

Yes, a VFD is necessary. To make sure the unit is operating as expected it is needed to enable ‘hoist-application’ in your VFD settings.

Hoist-application is a term used for certain settings in the VDF that make an electric-motor suitable for hoist-solutions.

It is also needed to correctly set high and low speed settings.

Why is the PR mk1 equipped with a belt and not with a chain?+

We have chosen a belt for less noise and less maintenance. The belt is also very robust and durable.

Can a integrator assemble the vertical conveyors on site by themselves?+

Yes this is possible but we strongly advise you to make use of our experienced technicians on site (ask our sales department for the options in your region). If this is not possible Qimarox supplies the assembly instructions.

Can you also supply an stainless steel or hygienic version for food production environments?+

Yes, a stainless steel version is available but it’s not fully hygienic or wash down. If you need a full wash-down solution we can offer you the Prorunner mk5 wash-down.

Is there an automated drop-down safety available for the Prorunner mk1, PR2 and PR12?+

Yes, the Prorunner mk1, PR2 and PR12 are available with an electric or pneumatic actuated safety pin.
